Learner diary

Week 1 Image/Media Analysis
For the first week of term we learned how to analyse any media text. I do this using DISTINCT. Distinct is an abbreviation used to remember the key elements of analyzing a media text, it stands for: dont ignore setting, technical codes, iconography, narrative, characters, themes & tones. Setting is where and where it is set. The technical codes are the sound, editing, framing and angles. Iconography is what the texts stands for, for example the motive behind why the text is how it is. Narrative is what is happening in the text. Characters is who is in the text and what their expressions are and their body language. Theme and tones are what feelings are given off in the text

Week 2 Media Brief
For week two we were given a media brief which gave us an objective with certain specifics. The brief said that i needed to redesign the East Norfolk collage website, it needed to look professional and be based on established layouts. A client is the person or organization who sets the brief. in this case my client was the collage. Audience engagement is how much the client interacts with their audience. In this case it is how the collage interacts with 15-17 year old

Week 3 Target Market
For week three we learned about primary and secondary audience, what demography the collage appeals to and how brand identity affects a company using the collage as and example.
The primary audience is the target market, for the collage it is students and staff. The secondary audience are the people who the collage also appeals to but are not as priority as the primary audience. for the collage the secondary audience are parents.
A demographic is a sector of the population, for example the collage is more popular with the teenage demographic.
Brand identity is how marketers portray themselves to the public. We looked at the play doh bunnies commercial by Sony. The company clearly put a lot of effort into making the advert and it shows. It also tells the viewer that if the company puts this much effort into making a commercial then they would put the same if not more effort into making their products.

Week 4 Typography

Week 5-7  Webpage
This week i made a mood board to gather ideas about what 16-17 year old teens are interested in. This was easy to do as i am part of this demographic so i know the current trends. A mood board is a collection of images and texts related to a certain topic. I made the mood board because i wanted to get a better understanding of my target market.
I also made a template that i could use on my webpage. I did this by copy and pasting a template into Photoshop and removing the white background leaving just black boxes. The reason i did this was so that i could put the template into slide master in order to make my website more organized and professional.
Finally i finished my webpages which i created using power point. The reason that i made them was because i was following the instructions given to me by the brief. I made them using my template as a guideline and using different shapes. I used the exact same colours and fonts to keep my page consistent as well as adding images from the collages website. I made 2 webpages but i have 9 slides, this is because i have made it so that you can interact with both webpages for example changing the testimonials and changing the pictures.
